Unemployed in Tech Support Group

An online support group for Californians in tech who are involuntarily out of work

Are you feeling demoralized, defeated, and exhausted from the job search?

Are you feeling hopeless, stuck, and unable to move past your own grief or shame around being unemployed?

Do you feel a crushing sense of loneliness, despite knowing you’re not alone in these experiences?

Knowing you’re not alone is one thing, but feeling it is another thing entirely. Being in community with folks who are facing similar challenges can make you feel better, and help you move through tough emotions to get un-stuck. In this support group, you will both give and receive support from others so that you can reclaim yourself, your agency, and move forward.

Thursdays, 10:30am-12:30pm
starting February 6, 2025

  • Build community to combat feelings of isolation

  • Get support for grief around loss of routine, purpose, identity

  • Get support for shame and learn how to set the shame aside

  • Give support to other group members whose experiences may closely mirror your own

  • Develop genuine care for your self and build curiosity around your needs

  • Acknowledge all of the (often invisible) work you’re doing

  • Reclaim your agency when things feel out of your control

In this group, you can expect to…

    2. Within 2 business days, you will receive an invite via email to the therapy portal. Fill out your paperwork on the therapy portal, including your method of payment (you will NOT be charged yet)

    3. Once your paperwork has been completed, you’ll receive an email from me with the link to register for each individual weekly session

  • After registering and filling out your initial paperwork, you’ll receive a link to a page where you’ll sign up for each weekly session individually. You’ll receive an email reminder each week with the link as well.

    1. You must sign up no later than 10:00pm the night before the session you’d like to attend. You’ll receive confirmation of your registration via email.

      • If we run out of space for that week’s session (each session can accommodate up to 12 people), you’ll be put on a waitlist for that session and will be notified if a spot becomes available.

    2. An hour before the session you sign up for begins, you’ll receive a link to a zoom room via email (it will be a different link each week)

    2. If you cancel after 10:00pm the night before the session, you will be charged for the session.

    3. If fewer than 3 people register for any given week, the support group will be cancelled for that week and you’ll be notified by email the night before the session. You will not be charged for sessions that are cancelled due to low attendance.

  • When you fill out your paperwork on the Therapy Portal after your initial registration, you will be asked to include a method of payment. However, you will not be charged at the time of your initial registration.

You will only be charged under three circumstances:

    • You sign up for and attend one of the weekly group sessions

    • You do not sign up for a week’s group session

    • You cancel a sign up with at least 12.5 hours of notice

    • The group session is cancelled by the facilitator for any reason

  • Each session is $35.

If you attend once in any given month, it would cost $35 that month. If you attended four times in one month, it would cost $140 over the course of that month.

  • The group will meet online on Thursdays—the time is TBD, but will likely be either 10:30am or 2:30pm

We will use a HIPAA-compliant zoom room for all sessions. The link will be emailed to you an hour before the session if you’ve signed up to attend that week’s group session.

  • The group’s size may change from week to week, but there will always be a minimum of 3 group members and a maximum of 12.

(If fewer than 3 people register to attend any given week, that week’s session will be cancelled.)

  • This support group is designed to be extremely flexible. When you sign up and fill out paperwork, you are signaling to me that you will attend at least one group session in the future, but you are not committing to any set number of sessions.
