therapy for teens & adolescents

$175 / 50-minute weekly session

Is your teen struggling with a transition, like starting middle school or high school? Do they feel insecure or lack confidence? Are they feeling overwhelmed by academic or extracurricular demands? Are you feeling unsure of how to help support them as they start to push you away?

From meeting academic expectations to fulfilling extracurricular responsibilities, from navigating the social scene at school to surviving the one online, teens are under a lot of stress even under the best of circumstances. (Often, life doesn’t grant the best of circumstances.) And—let’s be honest—your job of raising them isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Therapy can help continue the wonderful work you started with your child years ago, by nurturing and helping them come into their own in a confusing, hormone-riddled, scholastically-demanding time. (With an adult that they don’t feel the biological imperative to push away from. Which is normal, by the way. You’re doing just fine!)

Sometimes teens come to therapy because their behavior has been flagged as problematic in some way. I honor that, however their behavior is arising, it is happening in a context that is greater than the teen and is both resilient and adaptive in some way. From a place of empathy and understanding, we can partner in developing an awareness of the forces, pressures, and desires underlying those behaviors to build a secure base moving forward.

I take a strengths-based approach with teens to build their confidence and learn how to feel secure in themselves and in the real world. Together we will also lay groundwork for safe, secure relationships in the future. I work at their pace to build trust and honor their innate resilience.
